Remote Control Planes - The Best RC Aircraft
In RC Planes of RC Plane Enthusiast (August 13, 2008 10:06 am)
Who doesn’t enjoy getting outside with the family and firing up a replica remote control plane? I know I do, but when purchasing RC Airplanes, there are several things to consider such as fuel, air speed, size, prop or jet, plane or helicopter. The number of RC Aircraft available is quite vast and can be a little bit overwhelming to the first time hobbyist.
Your fuel choice is an important one to make. You can choose from gas, electric and even a mixture akin to jet fuel. RC
model planes are just like normal planes in every way, shape and form – just smaller. First time hobbyists should stick with a single propeller and electric. Remote control planes can get very complicated once you start adding fuel mixtures and extra punch.
The best beginner model of remote control planes would have to be the “Tiger Shark Seagull”. In the world of remote
control planes this one is the daddy of the beginners. It is easy to assemble, its fuselage is sturdy plastic, and the wings are high tense foam meaning tough to break. It is complete out of the box meaning you can fly nearly right away! It has a 20-minute flight time on a full charge. It takes about 3 hours to charge up and then you are ready to toss it up in the air and fly. The price take is reasonable at under $100.00! If assembling is not your deal, you hate charging batteries then consider the “Ready To Fly USAF Bomber”. It has no extra moving parts; foam made to be nearly indestructible and takes 8 AA batteries! Talk about easy!
You will not be a beginner to remote control planes long and will eventually want more control over your plane and flight. Midrange planes are great for newer hobbyists and older children. The “Soarer” is a recommended model. It features an impressive wingspan, is acrobatic and built to glide. It charges in about 90 minutes and gives 25 minutes of flight time on average. It is also easy to assemble and maintain this electric gem.
Hobbyist turned enthusiast want remote control planes they can get into. Ready to fly out of the box models are not on the menu. Full function planes offer the ability to remove and interchange parts. They also are the best representation of real
aircraft. My personal favorite as a flyer and history buff is the “Fokker DR-1” modeled after the World War I master ace, The Red Baron. It is easy to assemble and is very realistic in its construction. You can also paint this bird however you see fit. It does full acrobatics as well making it an impressive site in the sky.
Once you begin to unravel the remote control plane hobby you will begin to see all the great things you can build. From history accurate models to futuristic looking birds of prey. You can fly jets or helicopters too. It’s an exciting hobby and there are many groups available where you can increase your level of fun.
