Being able to fly RC jet planes may not always be an easy task for everyone. Because these types of planes are fast, beginners might want to first get some experience by flying a plane that works with propellers or even by using an instructor to help you gain more flying experience. If you have a bit of experience before flying an RC jet aircraft it will be much easier for you to handle, therefore you will have a more pleasant experience. If you are a beginner but would still like to fly one of these you should try and rather look at the slowest pusher jets and see what you can find there.
Normally, a WWII jet or a sleek fighter is the plane that’s best to use for a beginner to learn some skills with. Especially if you are doing this on your own without an instructor, it is important that you follow these guidelines so that you don’t have your new plane in pieces in a few days or hours. So for a first time flight, try something more like the GWS Slow Stick ParkFlyer or even something more along the lines of a Cessna trainer instead of any other planes that seem to difficult for a beginner, it’s for your own good! Sometimes flying these planes is not as easy as flying remote control jet planes.
It will not be very fun for you, or anyone, when they fly their RC jet planes for the first time and they watch it drilling into the ground destroying itself because you don’t know how to control it. Another thing is that these planes and any other RC jet airplanes can be quite expensive, and it will not be worth it to get it messed up the first time you fly it. Not all of these planes are expensive, but sometimes if you want a good plane you have to be prepared to pay for it, cheap or expensive.
There are mainly three different types of RC jets for you to choose from, these are Ducted fan RC jets, Turbine powered jets and then the beginners best option; Pusher jets. Many of the Ducted fan jets use a high RPM bladed fan engine, and this can operate in an interior duct that is able to provide power of 20,000 RPM or more.
When it comes to Turbine jets, they feature a propulsion system near the rear and they are also the closest RC jet planes you’ll get to a real jet. These jets can go extremely fast, even faster then your average car can go, 300 and more, miles per hour. They also burn jet fuel and they tend to be more expensive then a lot of the other jet planes. Even if you have the slightest bit of experience you should still start with a slow pusher jet. This is because it will allow you to sort out any problems you may find you have and also give you more time to work with it because it is easy.
