The sport of combat for RC combat planes is one that is enjoyed by many around the world. With RC combat, 2 or more airplanes are involved and each carries a crepe paper streamer. The object of this combat practice is to protect your own streamer while trying to cause damage to and cut your opponent’s streamer. You can typically cut your opponent’s streamers by using your own wings, but it is possible to also create prop, elevator or even rudder cuts.

There are many specifications for RC combat aircraft when involved in scale combat. The sport began in Europe and branched out to the United States in the early 1990’s. All the fighters have a limited amount of time (90 seconds) to become airborne and then a ‘start combat’ is called. Points are awarded for each cut to an opponents ribbon, extra points are awarded for being airborne earlier than the ‘start combat’ is called, for being able to fly the entire duration of the combat heat, as well as receiving points for each foot of streamer that you have left at the end of the match.

Open combat is one of the largest known versions of RC combat. The most popular type of combat is SSC (Slow and Survival Combat). With this type of combat the remote control combat planes have performance limiting rules. Here they require inexpensive engines with .15 displacement engines, a mandated propeller and a limit on the maximum RPMs.

Open B class of combat is for RC combat airplanes for larger engines up to a .30 displacement and have no limits on the engine or the airplanes than just having a maximum weight of 3.5lbs. There are a number of assorted types of airplanes for this specific type of combat and are available at many local hobby stores or online through the Internet.

There are many assorted types and styles of RC combat planes to choose from. Depending on your exact battle and your own personal preferences, you can find a number of aircraft model kits that have a variety of wingspan, size and weight in order to reach your combat objectives effectively. Although these airplanes are great sport flyers, they are designed specifically for the expert level of flyer in mind.

No matter where you decide to purchase your RC model kit from, whether it be from a local vendor’s shop or through the Internet, you will want to be sure to get one that is easy to build, durable, highly competitive, and consist of high quality material. One way to personalize your RC combat planes is to use decals in order to individualize your flyer.

There are a number of different websites that buy, sell and share information on the many types of RC combat planes. You are sure to find a RC combat community in your area or one that is in a local major city center close by. You would be surprised at the number of participants that enjoy this favorite pastime.
