Electric RC planes represent the easiest and cheapest way into the hobby of radio controlled flying. Their relatively low prices and ease of flying make them a great way to get started in the hobby.
This hobby is now for everyone. If you never thought that you were able to afford to fly, electric radio controlled planes are affordable and fun.
What if you live in an urban neighborhood? Well there is an option if you don’t have the large field to take off from or land in. You could go with the 4-channel float and land plane. It gives you the ability to take off from and land on water or land.
It comes complete with wheels to land on land with and floats if you’re flying over water. Removing and replacing the landing gear is all you have to do. If you’re wondering if it’s easy to fly, the answer is yes. This plane comes with excellent control and stability. The ability to fly at low speed makes it an excellent plane to learn with. It also is great for flying from small fields or over a small pond.
Electric rc airplanes, like most radio controlled devices are not recommended for children under the age of 12. This is because any loss of control could crash your plane. But, like anything else there is a learning curve. If you’re just starting
out in remote control flying I recommend that you get a beginner model. They have a nice selection ranging from $30 and up. This way if you crash it, it won’t hurt you as much. You could also try starting out with an electric rc helicopter, they are easier to fly than electric rc planes.
What types of electric remote control planes are available today? They come in different sizes. The Micro Flyer Wattage is an indoor plane. It has a nine inch wing span. This plane is just over eight inches in length. It can be flown anywhere and will bring hours of enjoyment. It has a 150ft range and unbelievable maneuverability. If you’re looking for nice beginner plane, check out the RC Ariel Eagle B-52. It has twin electric motors and is ready to fly right out of the box. It’s the perfect plane for the first time flyer or the veteran pilot.
As far as models go electric rc planes are very similar to radio controlled cars. They both have a great selection to choose
from. You can get the basic models or the ones with all the bells and whistles. It really all depends on how much you want to spend. As you go up in price you of course get more features and more range. There are some very amazing pilots out there who can do great tricks with their planes. Try doing a search on Youtube and check out the videos of pilots and the tricks that they can perform. Once you’re ready give some of these tricks a try. You could also visit some local air shows and see some pilots performing their tricks live.
